THE STAIRWAY - ALEX TORTEROTOT (2011)

The Stairway (L'Escalier) by Alexandra Torterotot was an early FILMSshort competition winner. Alex is a French filmmaker based in New York, although The Stairway was shot in Paris. Written by Sylvain Aubert-Garmendia, it is a simple and nightmarish story of a man who cannot escape a never-ending but always changing series of stairways. There are some similarities to be found in the Spanish film, The Guilt, which was made at about the same time (meaning no-one copied anyone here).
