NORM - MIGUEL ENDARA (2017)

Written and directed by American filmmaker Miguel Endara, Norm is a one-room drama which imagines a society in which rape is both legal and socially accepted. Two men return from a drunken night out and encounter a sober housemate, who is part of the minority that believes in consensual sex and is thus there to be mocked and taunted by the majority. It is, of course, addressing a common argument made by those (the majority) who support the killing of sentient creatures for us to consume and their attitude towards those (the minority) who believe we should not do this: the argument being that other animals eat animals so it therefore natural for us to do likewise. If this short film does not expose the stupidity of the argument, then consider that animals routinely commit infanticide as well as rape.
