Proving again that I do watch films sent in to me (though I do not always have the time or words to respond), here is an elegant animation, Rice Paper (Papier de Riz), from French animator Raphaƫl Erba. As if formed of rice paper itself, this animation tells the story of an ancient Chinese painter who apparently captures the uncapturable with amazing ease. Having heard of his skill, the Emperor challenges him to create the most beautiful swan ever painted and is surprised to hear the painter ask for ten years to accomplish the feat. When the Emperor returns ten years later, he is surprised by what the artist has done. You may need to switch on the subtitles. If you like Rice Paper by Raphael Erba, be sure to rate it and share it.
