THE LANDING - JOSH TANNER (2013)

Written by Josh Tanner and Jade van der Lei, and directed by the former, The Landing was a big hit on the short film festival circuit. It takes place over two timelines, with most of it set on a secluded American ranch during the height of the Cold War. The young Edward lives there in isolation with his alcoholic and war-weary father. When an unusual object falls from the sky and lands on the farm, the boy watches his father drag something living from it, which he keeps hidden in the barn and proceeds to torture. It will perhaps not take very long for the more astute viewers to work out what the alien creature is, which is perhaps the film's main flaw. The second timeline sees Edward some forty years later when, having just lost his father, he digs up the alien spacecraft. If you like The Landing by Josh Tanner be sure to rate it and share it.
