Wendy McColm is a writer, director and actor who with The Thing In The Ground has taken on something quite different. Many times filmmakers will place style over substance, but this film is surely an exception. The Thing In The Ground tells the story of a woman with schizophrenia who is convinced there is something lurking in her garden. It's a story of madness and isolation, with a promise of recovery too distant to believe in. The style of the film is such a perfect compliment to the story. The cinematography, the editing, the dialogue all support the concept flawlessly. If you like The Thing In The Ground by Wendy McColm be sure to share it.
