BOB'S BIRTHDAY - DAVID FINE & ALISON SNOWDEN (1994)

Bob's Birthday won the short animation Oscar in 1995. By David Fine and Alison Snowden, it is an amusing look at modern life (it is as relevant today as it was then) and how the best laid plans can go horribly wrong. It is dentist Bob's 40th birthday and his wife has organised a surprise party. Unfortunately, Bob returns home in a depressed mood and takes off his underwear while his party-guests are still hiding and waiting. Will they get the chance come out? It took several years, but this animation led to a series of short animations entitled Bob & Margaret. This comic premise has been repackaged several times, including in the live-action comedy Love Is Blind.
